Ignore the cat basket near the fire in the secondary staff room. Its occupant was injured on the grounds and took refuge in the school. The rest of its recovery should take no more than a week.

Filch has found no fallen stone or limb near the castle, but that creature couldn't have come far with a broken back. *voice rises, unconsciously trying to block out the painful sound of the animal's breathing* Its very presence here is abominable. What kind of sick sadist would abandon a hairless cat in this climate -- to say nothing of covering its thin hide with tattoos? Why hasn't anyone come for it? Does nobody care?

Someone else should have found it. It isn't my business. There could be complications -- pneumonia -- congestion -- that healer was too optimistic by half. I have work to do. This is ridiculous. Events will take their course, with or without my attention.

*vanishes through the wall toward his office; a few moments pass; slinks back in and, with a muttered curse, resumes his pacing*

Jareth was kind enough to take it to a veterinary healer, who put it on a diet of potions and supplements. It was weak and malnourished and needs to regain some strength before the bones are repaired. Otherwise... *exasperated shrug* ..here it is in the staff room. At least it's warm.
