What kind of sick sadist would abandon a hairless cat in this climate -- to say nothing of covering its thin hide with tattoos? Why hasn't anyone come for it? Does nobody care?

Someone else should have found it. It isn't my business. There could be complications -- pneumonia -- congestion -- that healer was too optimistic by half. I have work to do. This is ridiculous. Events will take their course, with or without my attention.

*vanishes through the wall toward his office; a few moments pass; slinks back in and, with a muttered curse, resumes his pacing*

Well, what do you see yourself doing once it's back to normal health? Letting it go again for someone else to find, and then have them write about the sick sadist who let a tattoo-covered creature off in this climate?

Is it really that hard to imagine a small fraction of your existence with the animal? The average lifespan of a regular indoor cat rarely exceeds twenty years.
